Hasan Dogan Piker (born July 25, 1991), also known as HasanAbi, is an American Twitch streamer and political commentator. [1][2][3]

Early life

Piker was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. Piker was raised Muslim and is of Turkish descent. Growing up, Piker describes himself as an "outcast" who questioned the dogma he learned in school. Piker moved to America and attended the University of Miami for two semesters. His parents then forced him to transfer to Rutgers University, where he graduated Cum Laude with a dual degree in Political Science and Communications. At Rutgers, he was a member of the Theta Delta Chi fraternity.[3][4]

Career

In 2013, during the spring break of his senior year of college, he got an internship at The Young Turks Network.[3]

He starred in a former branch of TYT, "TYT University" where he had his own show called Bro Tips.

Later, Piker created the show The Breakdown, which aired on Facebook[5][6] and was nominated for "Best Web Series" category at the 10th Shorty Awards.[7] He also wrote articles for The Huffington Post.[8] In 2019, Piker created a new series called Agitprop with Hasan Piker at TYT.[9]

In January, 2020, in a Twitch stream, Piker announced he is leaving The Young Turks. He is now an active left-wing political streamer on Twitch[10] and appears in political mainstream media and podcasts.[11][12][1] He also does gameplay and commentary of various games on his stream.[13] He posts highlights of his political and gameplay Twitch streams on his YouTube channel.[14]

Personal life

Piker is the nephew of Cenk Uygur, creator of The Young Turks. He dated popular adult actress, Janice Griffith in 2018.[15][16]

    • Hasan still hates Selçuk.
  • Hasan grew up with American culture and dreamed of living there.
